Monster Hunter: Legendary Expedition was conceived as a fully immersive translation of the franchise’s core philosophy: hunt together, learn the world, earn your victory.
This project was a pitch I authored and creatively directed end-to-end from concept ideation and narrative framing to creative visuals, experience logic, and proposal storytelling. My role was not to decorate the Monster Hunter universe, but to rebuild its gameplay loop as a physical, emotional journey.
The challenge was ambitious:
How do you turn a deep, systems-driven game into an experience that is cinematic, social, accessible and still feels earned?
The answer was to design the experience like a hunt.

DESIGNING THE HUNT
Monster Hunter has never been about spectacle alone.
It's about...
CONSEQUENCE
PREPARATION
KNOWLEDGE
COOPERATION
Instead of a linear walkthrough, I designed Legendary Expedition as a progressive quest where guests are recruited, trained, tested, and ultimately rewarded.
Every creative decision was filtered through one guiding principle:
Nothing is given; everything is earned.

THE OBJECTIVE
EMOTIONAL MAP
The emotional journey of Monster Hunter: Legendary Expedition mirrors the psychology of a real hunt deliberate, escalating, and earned.

WORLD FIRST
EFFECTS SECOND
Visually, I led the experience with a world-first mindset.
The environments were designed to feel alive, reactive, and ecosystem-driven not staged sets. Projection, animatronics, AR/VR, lighting, and sound were used selectively, always in service of immersion rather than spectacle.
From life-sized monster eggs to reactive animatronics and bioluminescent environments, the visual language reinforced a sense of scale, danger, and beauty central to Monster Hunter’s identity.
Every visual frame in the proposal was crafted to communicate believability, emotional tone, and build feasibility.
